Shaima Kadhum Mahdi – Hashimiya

May 2017

Shaima is a self-taught tailor from Hashimiya, who happens to be tied to a wheelchair from an early age. She started her home-based project by buying a small sewing machine, and serving clients in her neighborhood. After a period of time she heard from her friend about the loans offered by Vitas Iraq, and was pleasantly surprised by the availability of the Special Needs loan with simplified terms and conditions.

Shaima obtained three loans that she used to develop her project. She changed the sewing machine to a newer one and learned sewing curtains, which significantly increased her income.

It is also worth mentioning, that besides her successful sewing project, Shaima is a player of the Babylon Sports Club in the fencing discipline, and she has won the first rank across Iraq among the disabled category. Vitas Iraq is proud to accompany bright and ambitious ladies like Shaima on their journey to success!
